Emporia’s main water tower is now part of a national contest.
The tower near Dillons and Express Tire and Auto is now among the choices for Tank of the Year. The tower features an Emporia State University design through a partnership between the city and university reached last year.
Over 300 tanks are part of the contest through Tnemec. Voting closes Oct. 18, with the Tank of the Year announcement coming Oct. 25. Tnemec will choose 11 tanks as finalists alongside the people’s choice before announcing the winner.
