The Emporia State volleyball team played Nebraska-Kearney tight in the first set but couldn’t keep up the pressure in a 3-0 loss to the #3 Lopers Friday in a 25-22, 25-14, 25-14 defeat at the Health and Science Center in Kearney, Neb. ESU was within 17 points in hitting percentage of matching the Lopers in the first frame, but UNK hit .246 the rest of the way while the Lady Hornets managed just -.026 on offense. ESU didn’t have a single player in double digit kills and had 13 more errors than the Lopers. Willow Deckinger led the defense with 11 digs while McKenya Sorrells had four blocks. ESU (11-5, 4-3 MIAA) wraps up the road trip against Fort Hays State Saturday. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
