The Emporia State soccer team gave up a transition goal in the second half and that was all Pittsburg State needed for a 1-0 win over the Lady Hornets at the ESU Soccer Pitch on Friday. The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half but the Gorillas got on the board just over eight minutes into the second half. ESU was outshot 9-8 in the game but was on the offensive in the second half generating six shots to PSU’s four. Head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn said the team tried to find energy early in the second period.
The Lady Hornets (3-4-2, 1-2-1 MIAA) are back on the pitch at home Sunday hosting Missouri Southern on Senior Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
