Olpe took their methodical rushing attack against Mission Valley’s spread, no huddle offense and defeated the Vikings, 34-14.
A 5:57 long opening drive, had Olpe striking first after a 10 yard touchdown run. Bailey would find the endzone again in the closing moments of the quarter.
Head Coach Chris Schmidt was pleased with how his team started the ballgame.
The line of scrimmage would continue to be won by Olpe in the second quarter with Eli Markowitz finding the endzone for a 21-0 halftime advantage.
Olpe would add to their lead midway through the third quarter, with a Dexton Hoelting touchdown score.
Trailing 27-0, Mission Valley continued to lean on their quarterback Porter Deters. Deters would come through offensively, finding Brice Bunger in the endzone to draw within 19 points.
However, Markowitz would find the endzone to start the fourth quarter, with Olpe’s lead 34-8.
Deters took advantage of a gassed Olpe defensive in the fourth quarter, finding the endzone from 67 yards out on a long touchdown run. Mission Valley would pull within 34-14 but the score would prove to be the last of the ballgame.
Markowitz lead Olpe with 155 yards on the ground, and added two takeaways on defense.
Deters would finish with 288 yards of total offense.
Mission Valley falls to 3-3 and will play Wabaunsee next week.
Rossville awaits Olpe(5-1).
