Hear ye, hear ye. Emporia has its take on a renaissance festival, and it took place Saturday in downtown Emporia.
Enchanted Emporia was developed by Emporia Main Street, and Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says it was a rousing success — and it sets up prospects for a bigger event next year.
Queen Lisa, known in the modern realm as Lisa Brittain, says she loves the idea behind Enchanted Emporia.
King Jacob, also known as Jacob Brittain, planned to enjoy his time ruling his fiefdom, at least on a short-term basis.
Leadership methods aside, Brittain says this gives people another reason to shop in downtown Emporia.
While children could take part in the Pixie Promenade and meet with a unicorn, grown-ups could participate in different epic quests and find specials at various downtown merchants.
Attendees wanting to enter the costume contest need to submit entries via email to community@emporiamainstreet.com by 5 pm Sunday. Entries will be available for vote on the Emporia Main Street Facebook page between Monday and Wednesday.
