The latest update has all area counties, except for Wabaunsee County, in a drought watch. Wabaunsee County is in a drought warning at this time.
All told, every county is some sort of drought alert with 47 in a watch, 55 in an warning and three in an emergency. The prior update as of June 7 had all area counties — and over half the counties in Kansas — in a drought watch.
This follows Thursday’s update from the US Drought Monitor, which reintroduced moderate drought to areas north of Emporia for the first time in months.
