The Emporia State volleyball team won a back-and-forth battle in five sets over Fort Hays State 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 17-25, 15-9 at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan. on Saturday. E-State hit .257 in the first set but was held to just .086 in the second. The Lady Hornets got clicking with 17 kills and just three errors in the third to hit .500 before the Tigers responded with just three miscues and 14 kills in the fourth. The ESU defense locked up the decisive race to 15 by holding FHSU to just -.059 and just three kills with four errors in the fifth frame. Rayishon Jackman led three Lady Hornets in double figures with 19 kills while Camilla Ossola added 18 and Brailee Bogle notched 57 assists. Jackman went for a double-double leading the defense with 17 digs while McKenya Sorrells and Mia Frisbie each had four blocks. ESU (12-5, 4-3 MIAA) continues a five-game road trip to Central Missouri Friday. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
