Saturday’s hot temperatures set a record for the Emporia Municipal Airport.
Saturday topped out at 92 degrees, above the prior record of 89 degrees dating back to 1975.
Cooler temperatures are ahead soon. Sunday’s high temperature will be in the mid-70s, with mid-60s for Monday afternoon and low 60s for Tuesday. Frost may be widespread Tuesday nights as lows approach freezing for the first time this season.
Rain holds off until a good chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night.
