Emporia’s Street Cats Club and hundreds of residents had a ball of a time inside of the Emporia Granada Theatre.
That was thanks to the return of the Black Cat Ball which has become one of the club’s signature fundraising events. Though only in its second year, the ball is already seeing growth both in activities and attendance.
On top of returning activities from last year, dancing, drinks, a silent auction and dinner, this year’s event also included a pop-up escape room. Additionally, Street Cats Club founder Victoria Partridge says the event already had around 60 percent of its tickets sold before the doors opened.
Patridge believes the uniqueness and quality of the event are a contributor to its popularity.
All proceeds from the ball will go to support the club’s mission in the community which includes providing trap neuter and return services and foster homes for local stray cats among other initiatives. Patridge says the need for those services is extremely high at this time.
Partridge also told KVOE News Friday the Black Cat Ball will be continuing for as long as possible including next year with a date of Saturday, October 18 already set.
