Local and area veterans are encouraged to get their flu shots as soon as possible, and they have a chance to take care of that business as part of a special event Tuesday.
The American Legion Post 5 has a special flu shot clinic. Veterans Administration Eastern Kansas Health Promotion Director Jackie Mankin says the flu shot is free — although veterans need to make sure about a couple things first.
The clinic is from 1-5 pm. New COVID-19 vaccines will not be available, but veterans interested in that shot can call their medical team for more information starting this week.
Tuesday is important at the Legion for another reason: it’s the registration deadline for Emporia’s annual Veterans Day parade. Forms are available on the Emporia KS American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 Facebook page and online at emporialegion.org.
