Two area cities have secured state funding for different bicycle or pedestrian routes.
Burlington is getting over $650,000 for a prefabricated pedestrian bridge along Sixth Street. Council Grove is getting almost $1.9 million for a Streetscape and pedestrian safety project along Main Street.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says the funding comes through the Kansas Department of Transportation and its Transportation Alternatives program. Funding comes through the Federal Highway Administration and is used for bicycle or pedestrian projects โ including Safe Routes to Schools โ as well as transportation projects โof a historical nature,โ environmentally-friendly projects and scenic enhancements.
Governor Kelly says over $31 million went to Kansas cities and towns as part of this announcement.
