The final steps towards bringing Quik Trip — and possibly other businesses — to Emporia could take place Wednesday.
Emporia city commissioners have their regular meeting slate beginning at 11 am, and they could well authorize expenditures through the issue of General Obligation bonds for the Flint Hills Crossing development just southwest of the Flint Hills Technical College main campus. Connected to that resolution are decisions for a nearly $2.7 million improvement contract to Bruce Davis Construction, the final plat or layout and different easements — all of which are set to be handled through separate votes.
The action session agenda also includes a public hearing for $3.5 million worth of Industrial Revenue bonds for the 502 Lofts project in downtown Emporia, as well as annexation of land along the Cottonwood River just south of Emporia and just west of Kansas Highway 99 and the appointments of Jessica Reth and Renee Hively to the city’s Homelessness Advisory Board.
The study agenda involves discussions about snow removal policy and more conversations about possibly reorganizing Emporia’s economic development.
The action meeting is at the Municipal Court Room. The study session will be City Conference Room 1AB.
