The growing trend of potential threats against schools has been reported in Osage County.
Sheriff Chris Wells says his office received a report about a possible threat to the Carbondale Attendance Center around 8 pm Sunday. The threat was deemed to be unfounded after an investigation involving deputies and Carbondale Police, and Wells stresses there is and was no threat. However, Wells says there will be increased law enforcement presence at the school, as well as ongoing monitoring of visitors, controlled access to facilities, strict security protocols at school entrances and active patrols by the School Resource Officer.
This follows similar unfounded threats or potential threats at Emporia Middle School, Burlington Middle School and Waverly High School over the last six weeks.
