Two Topeka residents face possible drug distribution charges in Lyon County after arrests in Emporia this past weekend.
Lyon County Deputy Danny Broyles says 18-year-old DeMarques Fletcher and 21-year-old Lawrence Fletcher were arrested after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Merchant that developed shortly before 3 am Sunday. Broyles says a deputy noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, so the deputy conducted a probable-cause search — leading to the discovery of about three ounces of marijuana and unspecified drug paraphernalia.
Both were taken to the Lyon County Jail and booked on suspicion of drug distribution and paraphernalia possession. Formal charges are pending.
