Year two of Unified Bowling at Emporia High is set to begin Thursday with the program’s first home meet at Flint Hills Lanes.
Head coach Andy Battenfield said this year’s team has six returners from last year’s team, while the program has grown from 11 athletes last season to 14 this year.
After not hosting a meet in the program’s inaugural season, Battenfield said the goal for year two was to host at least one meet.
Battenfield said one goal for this season is getting kids involved.
Thursday’s competition is set for 3:30 p.m. at Flint Hills Lanes. Emporia High will host its second and final home meet next Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Flint Hills Lanes. Emporia High will travel to meets in Lawrence, Topeka, and Shawnee with the state championships to be held on November 19 at West Ridge Lanes in Topeka.
