SOS Inc. has several events on the calendar this month in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
This includes Love Letters to Survivors where residents can write and send a letter to a domestic violence survivor to remind them they are loved, seen and cared for. SOS Outreach Prevention Coordinator Danielle Armitage says those wishing to write a letter need to go to the center court of Flint Hills Mall where a box and writing materials will be available throughout the remainder of the month.
While they are there, residents and survivors alike can take part in another effort known as the Clothesline Project.
The display will remain up in the mall through the remainder of October. In addition to these efforts, SOS, in partnership with the Emporia State THRIVE Program, will be hosting an in-person educational event on the ESU Campus at the end of the month.
If you or someone you know is the victim of domestic violence you can contact SOS by calling their 24-hour hotline 1-800-825-1295 or text SOSKS to 847411.
