It’s early yet, but Lyon County’s advance voter traffic is well ahead of the primary election pace.
In fact, the turnout just from the first two days of the offsite voter option at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building has surpassed the advance voter total from the primary. Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Tammy Vopat:
Over 900 people combined cast their ballots at the Anderson Building on Wednesday and Thursday. Fewer than 800 cast their ballots throughout the primary cycle in July and August.
Offsite voting hours at the Anderson Building are underway now to 4 pm Friday and 9 am to 1 pm Saturday. Advance voting in person then shifts to the Lyon County Courthouse from Monday to noon Nov. 4.
Vopat also says 750 ballots were mailed to voters Wednesday. The deadline to request a mail ballot is Oct. 29. Mail ballots must be returned or postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 5, for them to count in the general election.
7 am Friday: In-person advance voting in Lyon County already surpasses 2024 primary total
Advance voting has been at a good clip early in the general election process.
Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Tammy Vopat says over 900 people have already voted in advance as part of the in-person offsite option at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building, including over 500 on the first day Wednesday. That’s more than the 767 advance votes counted for the entire primary cycle.
