For the seventh straight year marksmen and women took aim to support local 4Hers in memory of longtime 4H advocate and volunteer Gary Fuller Saturday.
The seventh annual Gary Fuller Memorial Shootout took place Saturday morning and afternoon at the Fuller farmstead northeast of Emporia. In total more than 70 individuals took part in the event which was on part with numbers from the previous year.
All proceeds from the event will go to support local 4H participants both through scholarships and prizes through the Fuller Family Fund. Lisa Fuller, the wife of the late Gary Fuller, says over the last seven years the fund has contributed between $35,000 to $40,000 to local 4H activities.
Before he died in 2014, Gary Fuller was known as an avid lover of 4H activities both as a competitor in his youth and supporter in adulthood. Lisa Fuller says she does not doubt that if he were here, her late husband would be extremely proud of the work they have done in recent years.
In addition to the shootout itself, the event also included a silent auction. Fundraising totals are currently pending.
