Two area golfers placed in the top 10 at their respective state golf championships on Tuesday.
Emporia High junior Elise Eckert finished fourth at the Class 5A State Golf Championships held at Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina. Eckert finished with a two-day total of 150 and shot a 73 in the final round. Eckert’s two-day total also sets a new school record. Eckert was eight strokes behind the individual champion Ximena Sarinana of Kapaun Mt. Carmel. The Crusaders also won the team title with St. James Academy taking second.
Osage City’s Peyton finished in a tie for fifth at the Class 3-2-1A State Golf Championships held at Emporia Golf Course. Pitts finished with a two-day total of 169 after shooting an 83 in the final round. Riley County’s Amelia Bowles was the individual champion with a two-day total of 147. St Mary’s Colgan claimed the team championship.
