The Emporia High football team was shutout on Senior Night against Junction City, 38-0, Friday night at Welch Stadium.
Junction City led 3-0 after one and scored twice in the second quarter on a pick six and a 41-yard touchdown reception. To start the second half, Emporia High produced an onside kick, but the kick didn’t go 10 yards setting up a Blue Jay touchdown. After a second Spartan interception, the Blue Jays made it 31-0 with 11:05 to play in the third quarter. Junction City scored its final touchdown with six minutes to play in the game.
Emporia High recorded 224 yards of total offense. Micah Gray went 8 of 16 for 95 yards. Rylan Crowell had 16 carries for 65 yards along with a reception for 13 yards. Ben Collins had a catch for 57 yards.
Emporia High will travel to Goddard-Eisenhower for its Week 9 game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Thursday at USD 265 District Stadium located at Goddard High School. The RV-Doc Pregame Show begins at 6:30 p.m. on KVOE.
