A Fort Riley man is awaiting word on formal charges after an alleged pursuit in Emporia on Friday.
Lyon County Deputy Daniel Calvert says a deputy noticed a car traveling on Interstate 35 at an unspecified high rate of speed near the Industrial Road exit. The deputy tried to begin a traffic stop near the area of Interstate 35, East 12th and Burlingame, but the driver, later identified as Joshua Guthrie, allegedly fled.
A short chase followed near Bluestem Apartments. The chase ended when Guthrie crashed into two parked pickup trucks.
Guthrie was not hurt, so deputies arrested him on suspicion of felony flee and elude, reckless driving and additional traffic offenses.
Deputies are investigating. Emporia Police officers assisted as the case unfolded.
