Hearings for seven Emporia State University professors initially terminated as part of a massive restructuring and reinvestment process two years ago will now take place next year.
Michael Behrens, Rob Catlett, Dan Colson, Charles Emmer, Amanda Miracle, Michael Morales and Lynette Sievert were initially set for hearings Friday in Lyon County District Court, but Judge Courtney Boehm reset all hearings to Jan. 24.
The professors were initially fired as part of ESU’s Framework for Workforce Management approved by the Kansas Board of Regents in September 2022. Emporia State then terminated over 30 faculty members, many of whom were tenured or tenure-track professors.
The Kansas Office of Administrative Hearings decided to reinstate the professors, and Emporia State has been appealing those decisions since.
