The Lebo volleyball team is heading back to the Class 1A-Division II State Volleyball Tournament next week at White Auditorium.
Lebo earned its state berth with a 25-15, 25-15 victory over Marais des Cygnes Valley on Saturday in Lebo. The Wolves avenged a 3-set loss to the Trojans on Oct. 19 in the championship game of the Lyon County League Tournament. Lebo advanced to the sub-state championship game sweeping former Lyon County League rival Southern Coffey County, 25-8, 25-11. MdCV advanced to face Lebo with a 25-11, 25-20 victory over Hartford.
Lebo will look for a third consecutive state championship beginning with pool play on Friday. Hanover, Linn, Argonia, Otis-Bison, Victoria, Ingalls and Wheatland/Grinnell round out the 1A-Division II state qualifiers.
In other sub-state action, Burlingame was swept in its semifinal against Clifton-Clyde, 25-7, 25-8. Madison advanced to face Flinthills in its sub-state championship but fell 25-16, 25-12. Madison defeated Norwich to get to the championship match, 25-14, 25-13. Olpe was swept by Little River in its sub-state semifinal, 25-11, 25-12.
