The Emporia State men’s basketball team fell in their exhibition to Wichita State 99-53 at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita on Sunday. The Shockers never trailed in the game and raced out to a 52-25 lead at halftime before outscoring the Hornets 47-28 in the second half. WSU outrebounded WSU by 18 outscoring ESU 25-7 in points off turnovers and 21-5 off the fast break. Head coach Tom Billeter said it was great way for the team to start figuring itself out.
Malik Edwards led the Hornets with 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field. Corey Washington paced the Shockers with 15 points. ESU begins the regular season at the Hillyard Tip-off Classic Friday, November 8 while WSU opens at Western Kentucky on November 4.
