An Emporia man facing charges of attempted murder and other violent activity against a woman was found guilty on some of the counts against him, but not all — and not the lead charge as part of a verdict rendered in Lyon County District Court on Tuesday.
The jury found Travis Wade Westcott guilty on single counts of reckless aggravated battery — an alternate to the attempted murder count — as well as aggravated battery, battery, aggravated witness intimidation and criminal threat. Westcott was also found guilty on two counts of stalking as well as two alternate counts of violating a protection order, while he was not found guilty on seven additional counts of stalking but found guilty on seven alternate counts of violating a protection order.
Besides the not guilty verdict on the attempted murder charge, the jury found Westcott not guilty on six counts of aggravated battery and three counts of battery.
The jury deliberated for about two full days, with the jury receiving the case this past Friday afternoon and then breaking for the weekend after nearly two full weeks of testimony.
A sentencing date is pending. Westcott was charged after alleged violent activity against a woman periodically between March 2020 and May 2023.
5 pm Tuesday:
The verdict is in following two days worth of deliberations in a Lyon County attempted first-degree murder case.

A sentencing date is currently pending. Westcott was facing more than 20 counts in total including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated witness intimidation, stalking and criminal threat dating stemming from illegal activity between March 2020 and May 2023.
