The Chase County Bulldogs had no problem defeating Sedan in the opening round of the 8-Man Division I playoffs Thursday with a 50-0 victory in Cottonwood Falls.
Luke Budke led the way for the Bulldogs with five touchdowns on the night include two in the first quarter, a 63-yard reception from Wyatt Griffin and a 33-yard run. Budke his recorded his third touchdown in the second quarter on a 28-yard reception from Griffin. Griffin made it 28-0 with a 2-yard run. Budke tacked on a 8-yard run, followed by a 13-yard score from Griffin and a 21-yard reception by Landon Doty from Griffin to end the game.
Budke had 56 yards rush on three carries and two touchdowns, while having three receptions for 136 yards and two scores. Griffin was 4-for-5 passing for 157 yards and three touchdowns while also having 11 carries for 105 yards and two scores. Budke said the Bulldogs found ways to make big plays against the Blue Devils.
Chase County coach Derick Budke said there’s still some things the Bulldogs need to clean up heading into next week.
Chase County (7-2) will host Central Plains next Friday at Ron Mayo Field in Cottonwood Falls. Kickoff is tentatively set for 7 p.m. The Mel’s Tire Pregame Show begins at 6:30 p.m. on Country 101.7 FM. Central Plains needed overtime to defeat Sylvan-Lucas, 40-38.
