Lebo’s Caleb Durst successfully defended his Class 1A state championship by winning the 1A boys race with a time of 16:53.20 at the Wamego Country Club on Saturday.
Olpe’s Kaleb Arnold finished fifth with a time of 17:28.33. Hartford’s Cody Cleveland finished 45th (19:20.95) and Northern Heights’ Rees Spade finished 48th (19:25.25). On the girls side in 1A, Northern Heights’ Ellei McCrory finished third with a time of 20:46.35. Olpe’s Lilly Skalsky finished 10th with a time of 21:51.65. Lebo’s Kennah Speer finished 11th (21:51.65) and Northern Heights’ Josie Tiffany finished 18th (22:18.68). Madison’s Lily Hudson finished 34th (23:13.80), Northern Heights’ GraceAnn Cathcart (25:02.46) and KailyeAnne Karr (25:02.59) finished 50th and 51st respectively with teammates Alanna Brecheisen (26:20.81) and Addisyn Hinrichs (26:38.79) finishing 63rd and 65th. Lebo’s Ellie Grimmett finished 57th (25:47.71), Cira Plummer (26:50.73) and Chloe Whalen (27:00.10) finished 66th and 67th and Chrissy Rivas finished 72nd (28:59.07). In the team standings, Northern Heights was fourth while Lebo finished sixth.
In Class 2A, Lyndon’s Kendall Wine finished 74th (20:33.59).
In Class 3A at Rim Rock Farms, on the boys side, Council Grove’s Jadyn Picolet finished 29th (17:24.38) and Osage City’s Alex Dawdy finished 40th (17:42.31). On the girls side, Osage City’s Emory Speece finished 21st (20:33.93).
