Rain showers turned the parking lot at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building into something of a muddy mess but it did not turn away hungry residents Saturday morning.
The annual Emporia Christian School pancake feed filled the Anderson Building with more than 600 individuals stopping by to enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by parents and students of ECS. Organizers of the breakfast were concerned heavy rain showers that created some muddy waters at the Anderson Building may deter residents from turning out to the event but it did not seem to have an effect which came as no surprise to ECS PTO Secretary and seventh and eighth-grade teacher Marcy Shirk.
While speaking with KVOE News, Shirk stated they know they can always count on the community to brave any conditions to support the Christian School.
In addition to enjoying freshly made pancakes, visitors to the Anderson Building were also able to take part in a silent auction which had no shortage of items up for bid. All proceeds from the breakfast will go to support updates to the Christian School starting with a new intercom system according to Shirk.
