County infrastructure, emergency services and IT matters will all come before Lyon County Commissioners during their regular action session Thursday morning.
Commissioners will first receive a trio of requests from Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods. The first will be for the rescission of a motion approved September 5 for mill and overlay work on the intersection of South Avenue and Prairie Street due to the asphalt amount being overrun by nearly 49 tons. Additional requests will include approval of a final invoice from APAC-Kansas Shears Division for mill and overlay work at the South and Prairie intersection totaling more than $58,300 and an update to the Road and Bridge building door locks and installation of a facilities and yard security system for almost $49,000.
Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope will then submit a purchase request for cameras through Motorola Solutions for nearly $98,000 and will ask for commissioners to consider terminating agricultural leases. Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Director Roxanne Van Gundy will seek approval of a payment totaling $4,471.52 to the City of Emporia for the 2024-25 Fortinet firewall maintenance from Lyon County 911 funds.
Finally, IT Director Jean Barnett will submit a request to approve the renewal of the county’s Veeam backup 3-year support for $9,540. Two executive sessions, one each for legal matters and non-elected personnel, are also planned.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
