Lyon County Commissioners received a variety of requests from a variety of county departments Thursday morning.
As part of their regular action meeting, commissioners approved a trio of requests from County Engineer Chip Woods. This included a request to rescind a motion approved September 5 for mill and overlay work on the intersection of South Avenue and Prairie Street due to the asphalt amount being overrun by nearly 49 tons.
Woods then sought approval of two separate requests Additional requests including a final invoice from APAC-Kansas Shears Division for mill and overlay work at the South and Prairie intersection totaling more than $58,300 and an update to the Road and Bridge building door locks and installation of a facilities and yard security system for almost $49,000.
Facilities director Robbie Weiss also sought approval of a quote for concrete curb and gutter replacements at the Bowyer Community building for $4,700. Commissioners approved said request as well as a better than $5,800 quote from Mitchel Markowitz to remove and replace the existing dumpster enclosure at the Bowyer Building.
Next, commissioners received a request from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for the purchase of body and vehicle cameras and outdoor range target systems from Action Target to be paid for with federal grant funds announced earlier this year.
Commissioners also approved sending notices of termination on agricultural leases between the county, Frederick J. Bam and Tim Arndt before approving a payment request to the City of Emporia submitted by Lyon County Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy. The payment, totaling more than $4,400 is is for the Fortinet Firewall Maintenance and will be paid out of 911 dollars not county taxpayer money.
Finally, IT Director Jean Barnett submitted a renewal quote of $9,540 for the Veeam Backup 3-year support. Commissioners also convened one executive session for legal matters with no action taken.
The county commission will reconvene for its weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
