Sentencing is coming next week for one of two defendants in a Lyon County human trafficking case involving a husband and wife.
Jesus Mannuel Trillo-Hurtado has a hearing at 9 am Thursday before Judge Lee Fowler. Sentencing follows a plea agreement in September where Trillo-Hurtado pleaded no contest to one count of conspiracy to commit commercial sexual exploitation of a child. Other charges, including aggravated trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, were dismissed.
Judge Fowler also modified bond to $5,000 and allowed Trillo-Hurtado to have contact with his wife and co-defendant, Maria Elena Trillo, who was sentenced last month to 32 months in prison, lifetime sex offender registration and five years of postrelease supervision.
While Trillo-Hurtado pleaded no contest to conspiracy, Trillo’s plea was an Alford plea to one count of commercial exploitation, meaning she maintained her innocence but acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict her.
