Trial is now on the calendar in a Lyon County human trafficking case.
As part of a hearing in Lyon County District Court on Thursday, Russell Paul Patterson was set for trial to begin Feb. 3. Trial could last four days, based on the current schedule.
Also a trial status hearing was set for Jan. 29. A motion hearing Dec. 12 will involve several motions, including defense motions to continue proceedings, house arrest and several different versions of in limine — or to eliminate certain testimony at different times during a trial.
Patterson is charged with single counts of aggravated trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation and rape after an alleged incident in July. Patterson is a former Emporia Police officer but had his employment terminated before training was completed and was off the force several years before this case unfolded.
