Emporia firefighters spent a few hours Sunday raising funds for a child of one of their own.
Firefighters used a meal consisting of a pulled pork sandwich, beans, chips and a dessert to generate funds for James Nunley’s medical expenses. Firefighter Greg Davis relished the chance to help.
James Nunley is the son of Emporia Fire Captain Michael Nunley and Emporia State University cheer coach Angela Nunley. The younger Nunley has started chemotherapy treatments for childhood leukemia, his second battle with the disease in four years and a restart of that battle after he had been in remission for around a year.
Fundraising is ongoing through the TEAM JAMES Facebook page.
