A portion of Merchant Street will be closed for a short time next week.
According to City of Emporia Communications Director Christine Torrens, Merchant will be closed to thru traffic from the north side of 6th Avenue and US Highway 50 to 150 feet to the north beginning Monday. The closure will remain in place through Tuesday.
The closure will take place as a cran places wireless telecommunication equipment on top of the Broadview Tower building. Businesses in the 600 to 620 block of Merchant will be accessible with a flagger during the closure.
