The list of communities affected by a now better-than-week-old boil water advisory has shrunk considerably in recent days.
Wednesday both the city of Olpe and Lyon County Rural Water Districts 1 and 3 were removed from the advisory. RWD 3 covers customers in southwest Lyon County while RWD 1 includes the cities of Allen, Admire and Americus.
Wednesday’s developments followed the clearances of Hartford and Rural Water District 4 on Tuesday and the city of Emporia which was cleared Saturday evening. With that said, a handful of local areas are still under an advisory at this time.
This includes the following:
*Lyon County RWD 2 immediately west of Emporia into far west Chase County
*Lyon County RWD 5, including east-central and northeast Lyon County
*Coffey County RWD 2E, including customers in Lyon County
*Park Place Communities mobile park home located east of Emporia on US Highway 50
Following its clearance Saturday, Emporia offered free water testing to rural water districts as they work through their boil water advisories. The testing does not extend to RWD customers, so people with questions need to contact their rural water district.
