The results of the 2024 general election are now final in Lyon County.
Lyon County Commissioners approved the results of the election vote canvas during their regular action meeting Thursday morning. According to Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat, 13,000 ballots were cast during the election with just over 500 provisional ballots.
Of those, more than 180 were rejected due to voters not being registered in Lyon County with two ballots rejected due to voters attempting to vote twice. The official voter turnout came to just over 64 percent according to Vopat.
This was the final election under Vopat’s tenure as County Clerk and while speaking with KVOE News Vopat expressed her gratitude to all the individuals she has worked with throughout her time in office.
In other business Thursday, commissioners approved the purchase of 4 axon tasers with holsters, handles, cartridges and batteries as well as two body cameras for Community Corrections in the amount of $12460.10. Separately, commissioners gave Lyon County Facilities Director Robbie Weiss Direction to place an IT generator project out to bid.
Commissioners also convened three executive sessions, two for legal matters and one for non-elected personnel with no action taken. The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for its regular action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
