State unemployment was on the rise between September and October according to the latest update from the Kansas Department of Labor.
According to the latest report from KDOL, the unemployment rate rose from slightly from 3.3 percent in September to 3.4 percent in October. Labor economist Emilie Doerkson says job estimates for the private sector were also on the rise month to month.
Locally, Lyon County’s jobless rate went from 3.2 percent in September to 3.5 percent in October. Increases were also noted areawide with Greenwood County seeing the largest rise from 3.0 in September to 3.5 in October.
Coffey County had the smallest increase going from 3.7 to 3.8. Morris County still has the lowest unemployment rate at 3.1 percent.
