A project through Emporia State University’s Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center is getting state funding.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says the PAROC’s Water Ambassadors program is receiving funds through the Kansas Water Office’s Water Plan Partnership Initiative.
ESU Outreach and Engagement Coordinator Daphne Mayes says PAROC was granted almost $1,800, meaning the total cost of over $3,600 is covered through state finding and private donations. Students interested in being Water Ambassadors will apply through essays, with selected participants then learning about different opportunities based on water before sharing their knowledge through PAROC outreach programs.
Meanwhile, the Osage County Conservation District is receiving an unlisted funding amount to implement water education programs.
Over $320,000 is going to seven new partnership initiatives, including the ones for Emporia State and Osage County Conservation.
