A big step is coming soon for Emporia firefighters.
The city is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the department’s new headquarters at 518 Market on Wednesday. The time is 1 pm.
The new facility will let firefighters move from the south end of White Auditorium, thus giving fire personnel more space for additional and larger equipment, as well as needed amenities for firefighters themselves.
