Project Playscape continues its push towards a new community splash pad with a new fundraising effort.
The Give the Gift of a Splash Pad for Christmas campaign is now underway through next month and representatives of Project Playscape joined KVOE’s Morning Show recently to discuss the effort. According to Britney Hinrichs of Project Playscape, all equipment for the splash pad was delivered earlier this year.
The campaign’s funds will go towards the cost of installation, which she says is around $75,000. The campaign’s announcement came just a few short days before the 11th annual Match Day fundraiser, which Hinrichs hopes will help raise a large part of that amount.
The campaign will also see friendly competition among four advocates, including Ashley Fehr, to raise the largest sum of money. Fehr says she became involved with the effort for several reasons, such as promoting a greater sense of community among Americus residents.
Fellow advocate Lacie Hamlin says she wants to make sure younger residents have plenty of options for something to do during the summer months besides sit indoors.
