More than 900 Evergy customers are now back online following large-scale outages both in and around Emporia.
According to Evergy officials, an outage affecting more than 900 residents in Far West Emporia was restored just after 9:15 pm, roughly two hours after it was originally reported. Another 100 customers remain offline in Lebo with 70 more affected in Olivet.
While work is still underway, the cause of the outages has been determined to be the high winds that have been hammering the listening area throughout the day Monday. One broken pole was reported just east of Madison as a result of the winds, however, that outage affected less than 10 customers.
