Lyndon Police and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating after a destructive trailer home fire Monday.
Lyndon Police Chief David Forkenbrock tells KVOE News fire at 520 West Ninth in Lyndon was reported by a neighbor shortly before 8 am. Flames and smoke were coming from a back-side bedroom as emergency help arrived. Forkenbrock also says the currently unnamed resident didn’t answer calls to determine his location until a neighbor heard some screams. The resident was found several blocks away and did not need medical treatment afterward.
The initial response involved Lyndon Police; fire units from Lyndon, Melvern, Osage City and Vassar; Osage County EMS; and Osage County deputies. The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to help with the investigation.
Forkenbrock says this follows a destructive fire at 528 West Ninth in Lyndon on July 6, also involving the same resident. Forkenbrock says there were some similarities in both cases, but the Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office was unable to detect any signs of arson with the July fire.
