Emporia Public Schools is getting ready for the Seasonal Celebration next month.
On KVOE’s Showcase with USD 253 Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder, Emporia High Choir Director Sarah Bays said this is a holiday tradition for the district and the area.
Orchestra Director Ethan Neil says rehearsals have actually been underway for close to a month.
Emporia High Band Director Glenn Woolard says rehearsals are just getting rolling after a successful marching band season.
Middle School Choir Director Monika Markus says students have been “in Christmas mode since before Halloween” — and she brought up a song from another holiday that will be performed by her students.
This will be the 89th Seasonal Celebration for the district. Performances will be Dec. 11-12 at White Auditorium. Suggested donation is $ 5 for adults, while students and younger children can get in for free. There will be sign language interpreters both nights and a special section for hearing-impaired attendees.
The dress rehearsal is at noon Dec. 11. Flash photography is welcome for the dress rehearsal but now allowed for the official performances.
