Trial is still tentatively set as soon as next month for an Emporia man charged with aggravated battery, attempted kidnapping and other counts.
As part of a motion hearing for Juan Baza-Morales on Wednesday, Judge Jeff Larson approved a state motion to endorse witnesses while staying a defense motion for in limine, or a formal request to disallow improper statements at various points in trial. Larson denied a defense request to modify bond.
Baza-Morales stands accused of single counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, attempted aggravated kidnapping, aggravated witness or victim intimidation and criminal threat after an alleged incident in early April.
Trial could start Dec. 16, Jan. 6 or Jan. 21. A status hearing is set for Dec. 11.
