Lyon County deputies continue searching for leads in the death of a resident from as far back as 15 years ago.
Kansas Missing and Unsolved has posted a graphic on the unexplained death of Brian Trester, who went missing in late October 2009 east of Olpe after his truck was found stuck in mud. Following an extended drought, Trester’s remains were discovered in August 2011 — over two miles downstream from the truck — and were identified following work by a forensic dentist.
The investigation since Trester’s disappearance and discovery, including the work of the forensic dentist, has not led to an official cause of death. Trester was apparently on his way to work when he disappeared.
Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says Trester’s death is a cold case, but deputies are still requesting information that can help solve the case. Residents with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at 620-342-5545.
