For the second consecutive year, the Emporia High basketball teams held “Meet The Spartans” Friday at Spartan Gymnasium.
Youth teams from 1st to 8th grade were invited to participate in the festivities with team introductions and relays while Emporia Middle School and Emporia High athletes participated in a 3-point contest and a dunk contest.
Emporia High senior Madden Seidl said the turnout for the event was great.
Emporia High boys basketball coach Lee Baldwin said it was special for the basketball teams to host the event again.
Emporia High senior Ryane Howe said it’s great to be back playing after being a manager last season.
Emporia High girls basketball coach Taylor Scott said there’s not a lot of change from seeing the event as an assistant coach to now being the head coach.
Emporia High junior Tanner Seidl won the 3-point contest while sophomore Harry Trelc won the dunk contest.
Emporia High opens the season on Dec. 6 at Liberal.
