Emporia fire crews handled a small grass fire that developed southwest of town early Saturday evening.
Fire crews were dispatched to Kansas Turnpike mile marker 122, five miles southwest of Emporia, and put out the fire quickly. There are no reports of damage other than a small patch of grass.
A cause is undetermined.
