This is a rough time for diets.
Regardless of whether you served in the military, Alicia Skinner, a registered dietician with the Department of Veterans Affairs Eastern Kansas division, says people trying to eat healthy can struggle — all the way through at least New Year’s Day. She has specific advice for veterans getting into the peak holiday eating season.
Having said that, Skinner also stresses that veterans — and everybody else — concentrate on portion sizes as they sit down at the table. And if you get off track, Skinner says it’s a good idea to either resume physical activity that may have been paused earlier in the holiday season or get started.
