A month after the Emporia Recreation Commission announced a separation agreement with longtime director Tom McEvoy, the organization has announced a retirement party in McEvoy’s honor.
Residents are encouraged to stop by the Lee Beran Recreation Center from 2:30-4:30 pm Dec. 13.
McEvoy spent 38 years involved in public recreation, the vast majority of that time as Emporia’s Rec Commission director.
The Rec Commission is waiting to pursue a new director until after a vote March 4 on a funding mechanism for a new public recreation facility at Champions Landing.
