A plea agreement has been reached in what started as a child exploitation case working through Lyon County District Court.
Adam Chestnut was originally facing 22 counts of sexual exploitation for allegedly having “visual depictions” of at least one child under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit conduct, with the alleged activity stretching from December 2023 through this past January. On Wednesday, Chestnut pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted exploitation. The remaining charges have been dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled.
Bond was also amended, removing a GPS requirement for Chestnut — who could spend 34 months in prison for each attempted exploitation count and could face fines of $100,000 per count. The tentative plea agreement would have Chestnut spending 68 months in prison, registering as a sex offender for the rest of his life but also not having any fines.
Sentencing is Jan. 17.
